PDF Metadata reads and rewrites the document information behind a file's “properties”: title, author, subject, keywords, Creator and Producer, with the creation and modification timestamps shown read-only. Before sharing a file, “Clear all” empties those six fields, which keeps a real name or a company's software list from travelling with it.

What it edits is the PDF's Info dictionary — the few lines most readers show in their “Document properties” dialogue.

1. 01Readselect a PDF on the left and the panel fills in the six fields and the timestamps; an encrypted file asks you to unlock it first.
2. 02Edittype straight into the inputs; separate several keywords with a comma, a semicolon or a space.
3. 03Save and download“Save and download” gives you <original-name>_metadata.pdf; “Clear all” empties the six fields and gives you <original-name>_metadata-cleared.pdf.

Accepted input

unencrypted PDFs; an encrypted file needs the password removed with “PDF Unlock”, and a file that fails to read can go through “PDF Repair” first

Scope

only the Info dictionary is read and written; if the file also carries an XMP metadata stream, the old title and author in it are not rewritten and some software (Acrobat, photo library managers) may keep showing the old values

Time fields

creation and modification times are displayed but not editable; every save sets the modification time to the moment you save

What it does not do

it does not clear text on the page, annotation author names, attachments or hidden layers (for sensitive content use “PDF Redact”); for image EXIF use “EXIF Viewer and Remover”

Metadata is read and rewritten locally in the browser and the file is not uploaded; remember that clearing affects only the newly exported file and leaves the original untouched.
