Extract PDF Pages takes a handful of pages out of a PDF and writes them into a new file that holds nothing else — sending only the signature page of a 60-page contract, for example. It is the “Selected pages” mode of the “PDF Split” panel: you choose pages by clicking thumbnails and get exactly one PDF back.

Extract PDF Pages takes a handful of pages out of a PDF and writes them into a new file that holds nothing else — sending only the signature page of a 60-page contract, for example. It is the “Selected pages” mode of the “PDF Split” panel: you choose pages by clicking thumbnails and get exactly one PDF back.
It is the mirror image of deleting pages — you keep what you want instead of removing what you do not, which is less work when only a few pages matter — and unlike the other split modes it never produces several files or a ZIP.

No. The original stays exactly as it is on disk; extracting only creates a new PDF containing the pages you selected.
The content is the same; only the file name differs (_selected-pages versus _extracted-pages) and the route in: clicking suits scattered pages, typing suits long runs.
